
There’s magic in the air and pumpkins on every porch. Halloween is creeping closer! Whether you’re looking for family fun, frightful festivities, or good old-fashioned trick-or-treating, there’s something happening in every corner of our community. Here’s a roundup of Halloween events around the Lake Sunapee Region:
New London:
On Sunday, October 26th Main Street in New London will transform into a pedestrian friendly Trick-or-Treat Trail from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. The street will be closed from Seamans Road to Williams Street, creating a safe space for costumed kids and families. Don’t miss the return of the Dancing Witches in the Municipal Parking Lot at Pleasant and Main, and head to Whipple Hall for Halloween-themed games, crafts, and music. The Odd Fellows will be serving up hot dogs by the green, and the Wicked Tasty food truck will be on site too. Earlier in the day, the New London Historical Society presents Ghosts from Old Main Street. Join in for a guided walking tour of the Old Main Street Cemetery at 2:00 pm. Sunapee:
In Sunapee, the festivities begin with the 3rd Annual Witches & Warlocks Paddle on Sunday, October 26th at 10:00 am. Bring your paddleboard, kayak or canoe to Sunapee Harbor and join the group, costumes are highly encouraged! On Friday, October 31st, Central Street will be closed from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm for trick-or-treating. Afterward, stroll down to the Haunted Harbor Walk from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm, sponsored by Hoptimystic Brewing and Prospect Hill. Expect ghosts, ghouls, spooky tunes, and delicious bites from Fenton’s Landing. A costume contest and games for all ages make this a hauntingly good time.
Newbury:
The Halloween festivities begin Saturday, October 25th with Family Bingo at the Newbury Public Library from 10:30AM to 11:30AM, followed by Trunk-or-Treat at the Town Office from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Later that night, adults can head to the 10th Annual Halloween Costume Bash at Salt Hill Pub (21+) beginning at 9:00 PM live music, prizes, and plenty of spooky spirit!
Bradford:
The KRES Bradford PTO is hosting Not-So-Haunted Happenings on Friday, October 24th from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, featuring a hayride, trunk-or-treat, bounce house, food, and bake sale. Town-wide trick-or-treating will be held on Friday, October 31st from 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM.
Wilmot:
Head to the Wilmot Community Association Red Barn on Friday, October 31st from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM for community trick-or-treating and a spooky house.
Warner:
Trick-or-treating takes place on Friday, October 31st, from 4:30 PM to 8:30 PM. Visit Pillsbury Free Library for more details.
Newport:
Celebrate Halloween all evening on Friday, October 31st from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, or dance the night away at the Halloween Masquerade Dance (21+) on Saturday, October 25th from 8:00 PM to midnight at the Newport Opera House. Featuring Last Kid Picked, prizes for best costume, and a cash bar. Tickets available here.
