The Ultra 1K Is Back: Small Distance, Big Impact
There is something powerful about a simple idea done well and the Ultra 1K is exactly that.
Now in its 7th year, this community driven event has become a spring tradition across the Lake Sunapee Region. What started in 2020 as a creative way to bring people together has grown into something much bigger, raising over $112,000 to date to support local food pantries.
And this May, we are doing it again.
What Is the Ultra 1K?
At its core, the Ultra 1K is about making a difference in a way that is simple, flexible, and accessible to everyone.
- Complete a 1K, which is 0.62 miles, anytime between May 1 and May 31
- Walk, jog, or run at your own pace and on your own schedule
- Choose a route or create your own
That is it.
No pressure. No strict rules. Just a chance to get outside, move your body, and be part of something meaningful.
Why It Matters
This is not just about logging miles. It is about supporting neighbors.
100% of proceeds from registration go directly to three local food pantries:
Kearsarge Lake Sunapee Food Pantry
Newport Food Pantry
Warner Area Food Pantry
Food insecurity exists in every community, including ours. The Ultra 1K is one small but powerful way to help ensure local families have access to the resources they need.
How to Participate
Getting involved could not be easier:
- Register for just $10 at Ultra1k.com
- Complete your 1K anytime in May
- Share your run or walk for chances to win prizes
That $10 goes a long way and when combined with hundreds of others, it creates real impact.
Let’s Talk About the Fun Part: Prizes
Yes, you can absolutely do this just to give back, but we have also made it fun.
Participants will have chances to win a variety of prizes, including:
- Gift certificates to local businesses
- A paddleboard
- Everyone that registers is entered to win a $250 New London Inn gift certificate
More Than a Race, It Is a Community Effort
One of the best parts of the Ultra 1K is seeing how the community shows up.
Families, friends, coworkers, and local businesses all take part, walking neighborhoods, exploring local trails, or even completing their 1K on a lunch break. It is not about competition. It is about connection.
Every registration, every shared photo, and every step taken helps bring more awareness and more support to an important cause.
