Start your morning in downtown Warner with a stop at Cafe One East. Grab a cup of coffee and something to eat, then take a few minutes to enjoy Main Street before setting off for the day’s biggest adventure.
You’ll be back later to explore downtown, but first, it’s time to head toward Mount Kearsarge.
Take in the View From Mount Kearsarge 🍂
From downtown, make your way to Rollins State Park on the southern slope of Mount Kearsarge. Getting there is part of the experience. The 3½-mile scenic auto road winds up the mountain through the woods, making the drive especially beautiful as the leaves begin to change.
From the upper parking and picnic area, a half-mile trail leads to the summit of Mount Kearsarge. Give yourself time at the top to take in the expansive views across the surrounding mountains and countryside.
Pack an extra layer and wear comfortable hiking shoes. On a clear fall day, this is one stop you won’t want to rush.
Head Back to Town for Lunch 🍽️
After a morning on the mountain, head back into downtown Warner for lunch. For a casual meal, you have a couple of good options right on Main Street. Stop at Reed’s North or The Local and settle in for lunch before spending the afternoon exploring town.
Once lunch is over, leave the car parked for a while and slow the pace a little. Several of Warner’s best stops are within an easy walk of one another.

No visit to downtown Warner is complete without stepping inside MainStreet BookEnds. Located in a historic building on Main Street, this independent bookstore is the kind of place where it’s easy to lose track of time browsing books, gifts and work from local artists.

Discover a Little Local History 🏛️
For a small town, Warner has an impressive selection of museums. The New Hampshire Telephone Museum takes visitors through generations of telecommunications history, with exhibits and artifacts that show just how much the way we communicate has changed.
Or head about a mile outside the village to the Mt. Kearsarge Indian Museum. Its exhibits explore the art, history, cultures and traditions of Indigenous peoples from across North America. Make time to explore outside, too. The museum’s 12.5-acre property includes the Medicine Woods and Betsy Janeway Arboretum, adding a quiet walk outdoors to your visit.
If time allows, consider visiting both. Each offers a different experience and another way to learn more about Warner and the region.
Make a Stop at Yankee Farmer’s Market 🦬
From downtown Warner, make your way to Yankee Farmer’s Market at 360 Route 103 East. Known for its bison and other farm animals, Yankee Farmer’s Market welcomes visitors to walk around the property and see the animals. The farm store carries a variety of meats along with locally made pantry items and other products.
It’s a fun stop if you’re visiting with kids, but it’s just as worthwhile if you want to pick up something local to bring home.
Take the Long Way Home 🚗
Before calling it a day, take a little detour through Warner’s back roads. The historic Dalton and Waterloo covered bridges offer two classic New England stops, and the surrounding roads are particularly pretty when fall color is at its peak.
There’s no need to hurry. Sometimes the best part of a fall drive in New Hampshire is simply taking the slower route and seeing a little more along the way.
